According to the National Library of medicine 50% of young girls suffer from depression because of the images and standards of beauty the media places on them.The media plays a pivotal role in how young girls are viewed and view themselves. Young girls are told what to wear, how they should look, and ultimately, who they should be. Those who don’t meet the standard of beauty are told they are not good enough. I know first hand just how much the media can affect young girls because I was one of those young girls I had really low self esteem because I didn’t meet the media’s standard of beauty.
My name is Angel Johnson and I am the founder of Soul Image 365. Soul Image 365 is a movement to help young girls ages 6-12 with low self-esteem realize they are beautiful and have a purpose in life. Soul Image’s goal is to create content to help empower young girls and women around the world.
