According to the National Library of medicine 50% of young girls suffer from depression because of the images and standards of beauty the media places on them. The media plays a pivotal role in how young girls are viewed and view themselves. Young girls are told what to wear, how they should look, and ultimately, who they should be. Those who don’t meet the standard of beauty are told they are not good enough. I know first hand just how much the media can affect young girls because I was one of them I had really low self esteem because I didn’t meet the media’s standard of beauty. The sad thing is this carries into adulthood and requires a lot of healing. My name is Angel Johnson and I am the founder of Soul Image 365. The goal of Soul Image 365 is to create a new standard of beauty. Because everyone is beautiful and has a purpose in this world.
